Radar sensor blocked, IEB not available, but not really...

I've had problems with this for years gradually getting worse and worse, usually in bad weather, so assumed it was build up of dirt, so finally removed the bumper to clean the radar sensor, but it was fine and made no difference.
It works for the first 2 miles or so after any restart, then throws a wobbly without fail.

Is this a common failure and do I just replace the sensor, or from others experience, is it likely to be something more involved??

Any advice much appreciated as ever!

Thanks

Neil.

I had this issue on mine back in 2021 when I bought the car. Supplying stealer first tried a s/w update, but that only worked for a couple of weeks and eventually they had to replace the radar unit. Been fine ever since. Its in this thread https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic38805.html Mike - MPx

United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Mariana Black

Morning Neil,

I have a similar issue however I think mine is being triggered by something (I could be wrong)

I can replay exactly one place where mine will all go mad. If I leave my house and head towards Chelmsford, via one particular road, and it doesn't matter if I'm heading out or heading home I get near to a antenna mast (probaby not called that) full of dishes and arials. Within the space of 10 yds I'd say it 'trips'.

Its not distance travelled related as I can take another road out to Chelmsford and have never had a problem. There are a few other spots I've found that also seem to have this affect.

It resets itself after 15 mins or so and radar/adaptive cruise all work fine. I've not tested the IEB system....cos I'm no where near brave enough!

Somene else posted that they could pinpoint a certain stretch of road or junction where they suffered the same but not sure if they ever found a solution.

Regards, Ash

Mine does it occasionally in heavy rain, but seems to clear itself again reasonably quickly.

Do you have a code scanner? What DTC errors do you have when it throws a wobble? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I couldn't read a code as once the ignition was off the fault cleared...

So, I took a punt, bought a used radar sensor, swapped it out and heh presto, I'm pleased to say that it is all back working perfectly, so happy!

Thanks for all the help.

Best

Neil.
