Im sorry if this has been done to death, I looked through the forums and couldn't see it addressed anywhere..

L405 Brakes: Front and rear Disc and pad replacement - quoted over £2000 by main dealer.
I'm not sure they even need doing,
this is the Main dealer 'Triage report' -

Brakes, Front, Front pads, 7mm disc lipped and corroded £ 1157.16,
Brakes, Rear, Rear Pads 5mm discs corroded and lipped £ 890.75

While I'm at it, they quote:

Rear Diff Pinion seal leaking will require new Diff Pinion Seal. £ 911.45

Am I being taken for a ride or do you feel these are fair? (I don't even know if the quote includes labour!)

Alternatively, any suggestions for a good independent workshop near Beaconsfield?

I did Brembo front and rear discs and pads for £800 DIY including VAT. £1k plus VAT for labour is a bit rich for a job that took me 4 hours and a workshop should be faster than me.

Pinion oil seals are another relatively easy job, I have never done one on a RR but I have on other cars and its usually a £20 seal and a couple of hours work removing shafts and failed seal then refitting. You have to be careful with failed pinion seals as they can throw out the oil and empty a diff pretty quickly.

I think they are quoting you book times which are usually generous with labour at £250/hr plus VAT.

That's really interesting.
I'm guessing that's going to be the going rate at any Main dealer then.

You should seek out an independent, they are usually around £80/hr plus VAT.
