Replacing high pressure air con pipe

Evening all,

I've got the classic case of no air con and, even with the windows down, it can get a bit toasty... I went to get it gassed, nope, leak. I've managed to get the leak diagnosed which is coming from the pipe that contains the refrigerant sensor and the high pressure valve - part no LR010889.

Now from the diagrams and having a look myself it looks like two bolts, one to the condenser and one to the evaporator... seems simple right?

Hopefully it is a straight-forward in and out job, just like every weekend... working on the landy, of course but any tips from those having done it previously or am I giving it too much thought and it'll be a routine job?

NB - system is empty as confirmed from the garage, safe to work on.

Cheers in advance,

Typical, I had this issue on my 2011 S/C and bought the pipe and a new condenser, coulnd't find any information on the swap... parked it... Then wrote my S/C off a couple of months ago.

I hope you find the answer, I think you're right, looked like some weaving and under bonnet athletics, but shouldn't be too hard.

i did hear that there is a chance of galvanic corrosion between alloy parts and the steel bolts, get some Plusgas on there and see if you can crack the bolts loose before doing anything that makes the car undriveable

Good luck!

It’s does seem these a/c systems are made of chocolate… Though if you’ve thought the same as me, it’s probably one of those I’ll get on with and give it a go. Good shout re the plusgas, small price to pay if it makes it any easier. Cheers Thumbs Up 2009 facelift L322 3.6 TDV8 - Buckingham Blue

Haha yes indeed! I also ordered the dryer as the system was open for a little while. From memory it wasn't expensive, around £25.

Best of luck! Thumbs Up Formerly happymadison1978

If you're going to this effort to sort your air con and you've got no record of it ever having had a new condenser, I'd swap that out as well personally.
