Am I being a bit too ambitious?

Having a look around for a TDV8 with about £5k burning a hole in my pocket. I have to say, finding anything half decent is proving to be a mission.
I know £5k isn’t a lot but there are some proper old dogs out there aye!
Fair play too, some of them have covered well over 200k miles, that’s a whole lot of fuel!

That looks pretty good doesn’t it.
We actually have a pretty good workshop and paint booth so I wouldn’t be afraid of a bit of tidying.

If you find a TDV8 for £5k you’ll likely need to spend 2-3k to bring it up to worth keeping. 2010 Range Rover 4.4TDV8 Autobiography Black Edition

£5k in your front pocket should get you a 3.6 but if you want to run it you would be wise to have not far of a similar amount in your back pocket. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I disagree. I sold mine for <£5k three years ago. And it's been sold on since. There are good cars out there for that money.

Depends what you want.

I spent £2K on a 2008 TDV8 VSE. Mechanically pretty good, interior pretty good. Paintwork/rust less good.

Spent (depending on whose accounting method you use Whistle ), somewhere between £2 & £3K, including four decent tyres and a chunk on welding sills/wheel arches).

As you say, some dogs out there, but some genuine bargains too (possibly!).
