Do they make a distinction between bonnet and the tailgate? I understand the bonnet letters are curved.

Nope, they were both the same - I replaced both bonnet and tailgate. |

I bought the same. Perfect match for mine though the template was 5mm too close to each letter. See my RR thread for a picture. |

The bonnet and tailgate have a different curve which means they should be different hence the different part numbers. It is very slight so I guess you can get away with it (if you dont look too closely) but when you look at the letters close up and side by side the difference is obvious. |

Is it that the letters you've got are still ok and only being removed due to tailgate repaint?

I think Batfink has the right idea - exactly what I did with about £20 of materials (paint and tape) - looks correct and obviously reuses the original parts. What’s not to like

Yes, the letters are OK. The guy helping me said there's a risk they will brake when he will remove them, I don't think he have done it before.

Get him to use a bit of heat (hair dryer or hot water) on them to loosen the glue, then use some dental floss or fishing string behind them to remove them.

So long as he doesn’t have hands like an ape then there’s not really much chance of breaking them, as already said a little nylon wire or whatever will ensure they come off without much fuss.
