Great stuff. It's something I'd love to do so must keep a look out on eBay for a panel. Thanks for posting

I had no idea this changed later and it's something I'll have to seriously consider as I really miss the simple buttons of my previous car. Stabbing at a touch screen is much more difficult than pressing a physical switch.
Do you know if the final two letters, 'DG' in the case of your new unit, are of any significance? Also, are the switches in the knobs tactile so a seller could confirm they are the version with switches? Hi MrWold,
I have no idea I'm afraid! - all I know is that my 'old' unit has the same DG on the label - and the part number is exactly the same other than the first letter changing from a D to G on the new unit - Sorry I can't be of more help ! This is my old unit (below) and as you can see the only difference is the first letter, everything else is the same.
The second question is easier - Yes there is a definite difference between the two - the new one has a definite 'switch' feel to it - it moves 'in' when you press it - my old one doesn't - so a seller should be able to tell you that I would think, no switch and it's not suitable For full disclosure - I scanned my car this morning with my IID scanner and I noticed an error code on the HVAC unit - which was 'invalid switch combination' - no other errors and everything works correctly on the HVAC unit (I tested everything this morning!!) and so I guess it means that the car doesn't recognise the panel correctly - but it has no effect on its operation - It might be possible to change the CCF to eliminate the error but I'm really not that bothered - I will keep an eye on it, I will keep my old unit to swap back just in case.!! It worked immediately with no programming - just swap and go. For me look and the convenience is worth it !! If anyone knows if this is fixable I'd love to know - I might ask GAP to see if its something that can be changed in the CCF but my thinking is that it might not be. I'm not sure if my unit came from a sport or a range rover perhaps that might explain the error - but the unit number is the same for both so I don't think that's the cause, its just that my car isn't meant to have it (obviously!!) From my limited research on the net - other unit part numbers might work - but the key thing is the press 'switch' capability - no switch action then definitely won't work !!! Obviously it your choice and risk but fro me it was worth it - relatively easy to do and for me a good modifcation. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I did mine back in Nov 2020. More info on part numbers in this thread: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic57475.html Kev

Hi knwatkins
Do you have a scanner ? if so does yours throw and error like mine does ? (Invalid switch combination) If not I'm puzzled by my error !!! (or of course how did you fix it !!) Hi Chris, yeah the code is normal when you replace the panel so don't fret. It doesn't affect anything. In all honesty, I haven't tried to code it out with the IID tool but I've taken the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' approach. Kev

I’ve completed this upgrade also (on an MY15) & get the same code when scanning with the iid - although as you say, everything functions ok. |

I've just picked up a GPLA....DH on a certain auction site so fingers crossed that that suffix is OK. There are several reports on forums across the pond that it works.

I have a note on my car spready from when i was looking that HPLA is a different CAN bus speed and will not work. I wouldn't have known that my self so probably found it on the forum somewhere.
