Security Update - 17th May

Has anybody else received a message on their in-control app today saying that there was a security update required?

I rang the number (and double checked it on the Landrover.co.uk website) and they have passed it to the remote assistance team to come out and do the update.

Problem is that once the messaged disappeared, it did not come back and I can't find it on the app, on email or anywhere..

Anybody else received a message / prompt? I have a 2023 D350 Autobiography.

I took mine in recently for something else and they said they'd done the security update. I understood it couldn't be done over the air, but could be wrong. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

So oddly, when I got out of the car last night, a software upgrade message appeared on the infotainment screen so it has done an OTA update overnight. Not seen what it has broken yet… 😂

I could be wrong as well, but I'm pretty sure only dealers can perform the upgrade and you need to bring the car + both FOBs for it to happen.

Had a letter recently asking me to take my MY23 and 2 keys to the dealer for a security update. Booked in for tomorrow. Should take less than an hour apparently. MY23 D350 HSE

England 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

I now have D350 FIRST EDITION which I bought in February 2023.
I very recently had a letter stating I needed a security upgrade - N888 - which I booked in with the distributor.
it was completed in less than an hour, and yes, you do need the two fobs.
All very painless, but a distributor only upgrade I believe. '17 RANGE ROVER L405 SDV8 AB LOIRE BLUE with INDUS SILVER ROOF

What did the update on the key fobs / security actually do? I understood it was anyway good,

Good to know & to impart info to the insurance company! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

It seems to me since the security update, they have removed the ability to unlock the car from the app. You can still lock the car from the app but as you do so, a message pops up reminding you not to have left your keys in the car (on the basis the app wont let you back in if you do!).

Reading between the lines they must have (quietly) realised the remote unlocking was a security vulnerability.
