Low Emissions Zones - L322 4.4 TDV8

Hi,

Looking at replacing my 2008 Land Rover Defender 90 with an L322 and one of the criteria for the FFRR was that it needs to be able to go into the Glasgow ULEZ (£60 fine if you enter with non compliant vehicle so much more severe than anywhere else!!!)

However had a look at a 2011 model via the Glasgow compliance reg checker and says it is not eligible.

https://lowemissionzones.scot/vehicle-registration-checker

Tried a different vehicle (same age and also 4.4) and that comes back eligible.

Is there a subtle difference in the 4.4 years that would make one eligible and another not? Or just an error on the checker which would need an appeal/correction?

George

My 2011 l322 was not able to get in any low emission zones as far as I’m aware even the last ones are euro 5. In the end changed mine to a l405 2016 model which is euro 6. 2016 4.4 diesel

It is very stange as ordered an Autotrader search on age of vehicle:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202405049373962

This one says it is eligible via the reg checker .

However this one does not
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202401075337049

So only difference I can see is that one is a 12 reg and the other is a 62 reg??

They both say they are euro 5. So I would say neither are lez friendly. Some l405 years aren’t lez friendly. The glasgow council website states diesel vehicles from 2015 onwards are eligible if you check there. I wanted a particular car last year and it was a 15 plate. But wasn’t lez friendly so looked at a 65 plate same story. Hence why I went for the one I have 2016 4.4 diesel

Thanks for that.

Looks like we will have to take our other car into Glasgow then. Or alternatively really annoy them by taking in the Series 2a petrol 😄

Ran a check and as its classified as a historic vehicle it is allowed into the zone.

However suspect the journey from East Ayrshire to Glasgow is going to be the killer and how would those drum brakes coow on Glasgow city centre hills !!!

Looks like it has to be the sensible petrol daily then 🙄

I’ve looked into this when replacing mine and only the 16 plate 405 diesels are euro 6 hence the price difference between non ulez and ulez L405’s 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

Hi,

I was told the only difference between 4.4 deisels Euro 5 or 6 was the introduction of stop/start that took it to a 6.

How true that is I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure all L322 diesel V8s aren't 6 as S/S wasn't introduced till later. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

That’s wrong.
Euro 6 cars use add blue, but earlier Euro 5 cars don’t.

I had this when looking for mine using the checker some were compliant and some were not, there didn't seem to be any reason why and why not, I was looking at 2011/12 models. The one I bought was 2012 and is compliant in all ulez zones apart from London!! When I put my personal plate on it it became uncompliant, however, a quick email to the ULEZ department with the screen shot of the vehicle showing as being complaint with original reg on and it was updated to being compliant.

Doesn't give you the reason why some are and some aren't but this was just my experience. Current

No magic to it, no diesel L322 meets Euro 6 - just database error.

As above. Database error, and it will catch up and get resolved at some point
