Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White
Gloss D Pillar Trim

Hi,

I saw a white SC AB L322 advertised in Autotrader and noticed it had gloss finish D pillar trim. Is this something commercially available or something the owner may have had done ?

I like the idea of gloss black A & D pillars, but I have no idea where to source them.

I've trimmed the picture as I don't want to infringe copyright but you get the idea.

Seen these around anywhere ?

I had an older 2002 l322 in bright silver with silver A and D panels. when I looked on the build, it was a specced factory option.

No quite gloss but the product below brings plastics back to factory spec for over 6 months in sun so as I say not quite gloss but very new looking. I use on the disco plastic and I have a new bottle for the Westie just havent had a chance to apply it yet. I actually used it on a cordless phone yesterday and it made it look like new.

If I apply over the weekend Ill do a before and after

I think I'll get one off scambay to play with before I commit to do anything on the car itself as it's not just a mat finish it's actually quite rough so I'll need to sand back.

I ended up colour coding my pillar covers, Santorini black, because they always looked a bit 'tatty' and am pleased with the result. Can you do the same?

Mine's white so I was really going to extend the floating roof theme by glossing the A & D pillars as the glass is gloss as I have tints so it'll be like a gloss black band around a white car.

It works in my minds eye, but who knows, I've ordered a D pillar trim, so I'll try that first and see how it turns out before I commit to doing it on the car itself.

If you do paint one make sure you use a good barrier coat first. Mine started to wrinkle hours after applying the paint and had to start all over again. Thumbs Up

Yes, that's my worry, hence getting a used test panel. I'll need to do all the door frames as well as they're satin black at the moment. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Did you paint them whilst in situ? Removing the trims is easy but you need a supply of replacement clips in hand as some will always break. Des

Of course not. Rolling with laughter
You also need to source the fasteners for inside the door and tailgate reveals.

Powerful UK do a video on how to remove the D panels and you have to punch the clips through into the panel and the replace with new. I was thinking of doing mine, but you would also have to do the A pillars & then the B pillars would look odd if not also done & then the wing mirror arms would need doing & so on. Where do you finally stop?
So I'm sitting on the fence at the moment with this one. If anyone has part tacked the job and has phots to share, that would be welcome..... 2010 RR Autobiography 5.0 SC
