Is it the pump or just a faulty gauge wiring?

That's a great question and I'm not sure. I broke down several months ago and recovered the car to a RR specialist. Since then I have made sure my tank is always half full.

There is a service bulletin about this somewhere. I had the same problem. It's caused by a faulty connector in the tank. I pulled the main pump, jet pump and senders out of the tank and cut off 2 or 3 connectors and soldered the wires together. Less than an hour and effectively a free fix. |

Thanks for that. I thought it was an issue with the in tank pump failing? Is this wiring issue the real cause of fuel starvation when there is a quarter tank or so of fuel? |
