It was from bhrepairs.co.uk - I'd done a bit of research and saw a recommendation on PistonHeads. The service was excellent, cost was reasonable; I'd considered two post lift, but in the end went with this. You can download a PDF off their website (I have no affiliation whatsoever!).

Excellent, thanks. I too want a 2 post, but currently am renting a workshop and dont really want to go to the expense of making the floor strong enough for the posts and installation, when in the next 3 years I hope to building a garage at home to my spec.

Been thinking about one of those type of lifts myself. I'm getting to old for crawling around on the drive. And my garage doesn't have very much height anyway. (besides it being littered with a series 1 and a few bikes mostly)

You guys have balls of steel, 3 tonnes on what is essentially a few bits of 2 x 2 and some tiny wheels, not for me man.

I don't have an issue with the size of the steels themselves as they can take it with that design. My concern would be the two bolts at the pivot points which take all the stress in shear tension. Mind you, I've been up 30M high warehouse racking storing thousands of pallets which you could feel wobbling about as you climbed the stairs and that was held together by way sketchier looking fixings and less substantial steels and that's not collapsed in a decade. Wasn't even bolted to the floor - completely freestanding. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica. Previous V8s: BMW 645Ci, P38 4.6, P38 4.0, Merc CL500 Previous others: Honda x1, Volvo x7, Rover x6, BMW x6, Ford x1, Mercedes x2, Skoda x3, VW x2, Renault x2, Citroen x1, Mazda x3, Nissan x1, Audi x3, Kia x1, Fiat x4, Subaru x3, Austin x2, Triumph x2, Jeep x2, Hyundai x2, Lexus x1, Mitsubishi x1, Saab x2... and some others I've forgotten! |

4 ton axle stands under each corner when underneath.
