Am I right in thinking that to activate this feature, you put the wipers on intermittent? If so, mine still wipe the screen when bone dry. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |

That can happen if there is a build up of dirt or dust on the windscreen sensor |

Mine always does an initial wipe, even if the screen is dry when you first turn them on, I think that's normal. TestBook can query it to make sure it's working correctly. |

If they sense rain, shouldn't that be something that doesn't need activating? Whats the point. They should come on automatically, not have to be switched on! 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |

They have to be reset when you start the ignition. The main reason being for when Americans drive into a car wash, they don't rip the wipers off. |

Select wipers "off" then "on - intermittent" again. |

That still defeats the object to me- I still say/think the whole point is that they come on automatically, without input from the driver. The reason they are put to Int. is so you can select the sensativity in effect.

Disco3 does it properly - once set to intermittent, they work whenever water hits the screen without having to be re-set each time the ignition is cycled. One of the first things I noticed about the FFRR was this apparent need to be told to 'sense' precipitaton each time it starts raining. As you say, it defeats the purpose and I still can't understand why the FFRR isn't working the way the D3 does. |

Yes, its a bit annoying having to reset them everytime it starts raining/start the car, but I agree with you, this way you have more control. How many times have you caught that kind of drizzle that never fully wets the windscreen? You give a swipe and you can't see a thing because it didin't have enough water in it. With the FF system, under those conditions you can drive without the wipers firing off at any drop. Are we so unwilling to move a hand that we can't turn the system on or off??? But the main thing is that you should not view the system as a ''rain sensing wiper'' but as a ''automatic speed adjustment wiper''. Being conceived this way, you should have it off always, and only on when it starts raining seriously. If you think of it like this, Its perfect. I seem to dislike a few of the automatic features on newer cars, lane change??? Come on, crappy stuff. no one comes and you must always blink or else you have lights flashing on the mirrors. Bells and gongs, another one... Just try to use the RR offroad when you're exiting the car a lot....It'll drive you crazy...Put the belt, close the door, get out again, move the branch, enter the car, put the belt, drive 1000yards, take the belt, get out......etc etc...Lucky for me, the dealer told me the way to shut it up, now I just have the red sign on the dash... Let us have some control on our actions. |
