United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Aintree Green

I’ve had two RR Sports with the single turbo 2.7 litre. 195 BHP TDV6, both from new, in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Neither car gave me any bother at all engine wise, just some minor electrical bugs. Also had a 3.0 litre 300 BHP twin Turbo TDV6 Jag F Pace for a year from 2017 and the engine on that was fine for the 10K miles I had the car - electrics were a different story!

So, to anyswer your question, I never had a problem on that engine with 2 cars over about 55K miles, nor with a third car with a slightly different version of the same thing. BUT….. lots have had crankshaft issues according to many posts on various forums (Disco, RRS, Jag).

Spain 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Baltic Blue

I had a 2007 Jag S-Type 2.7 diesel V6, twin turbo, though. It was good…while it worked.

Day-to-day, fabulous. Quick, quiet and smooth.

But it all came unstuck at the end when the EGR and DPF lunched themselves at which point I waved goodbye. Thanks for coming. But they were the only two faults it had, engine-wise. We parted company at ~130k.

I always felt the 6-speed auto dictated the engine character, had to explain. But the engine was far better than the gearing allowed it to be.

I would have another one, both an $-Type and a 2.7 TDV6 engine. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

2004 Volvo C70 2.0T convertible, had since new.
2007 Mazda MX-5 2.0 Sport Roadster/Coupé, had since new.

Ireland 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

I have the 2.7 in my Disco 3. Once the belts are done on time and it is maintained well its a good engine. I do find it a bit dead and that's why I went to a 4.4 RR but the engine itself never gave me trouble int he 5 years I drove it. I do use the heavier oil which quietened it a lot. Oh and the first job I did once I had the money was replace the oil pump, water pump and both belts Current yokes
