United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

So since July 2023

£700 - oil level / temp sensor (warranty paid the majority of the £2000 bill)

£620 - Front & Rear anti-rollbar bushes, front & rear drop links

£600 - front and rear discs & pads including buying tools needed to do that job and for future use

so now I have written this down I am going to make a mental note not to do it again as it will just upset me! Rolling with laughter

Not a lot at all as apart from the megaflush @ £450, I've done all the work myself so reasonable £3.5k over the last 2 years including all the little bits that I bought but really didn't need to.

That said, I have to confess I've bought over £750 worth of new tools just for fatty in that. Whistle

Not bad at all, considering my Uber reliable Audi S7 cost me £1,000 per year in tyres alone. Servicing costs which were £450 a pop so over 2 years thats about £3,800, I did fit £1,500 worth of wheels which I didn't get back when I sold it, and of course £5,000 in depreciation so tweaking the figures well into in fatty's favour.

2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey

In the 13 years since new…comfortably over £10k

13 years of servicing …at main dealer and independent
Air springs…prop shaft…..bushes….compressor….alternator….starter motor….oil cooler…hoses and vacuum pipes…plenum chamber….batteries….tyres….blower motor. (Twice)…..

But when you compare maintenance costs you should compare against depreciation
I would rather have a 100% sorted 2011 L322 4.4TDV8, costing me £2k - £3k a year to keep 100% rather than have a 2017 or 2018 which costs next to nothing in maintenance but is silently depreciating at an eye watering rate of knots !

Yeah, I forgot the depreciation bit for my 2019 4.4 AB, it has dropped £15K since I bought it back in July of last year and lets not even go there regards Insurance! Big Cry

Either way I am committed to keeping to best for at least 3 years and barley do any mileage so lets see how it goes. Whistle

I'm not too bad. I expect around £300 since ownership (Dec '23), having said that I am living with a couple of issues will be likely be expensive fix!

I'm taking each one at a time, with the goal of doing it right, with the right parts, but by myself ... Which obviously means everything takes longer!

Since 27.3.18 - £12,835.89. That includes a set of winter tyres, but not the spare set of wheels as I bought those when I had my 2012 WM. Not too bad on a per year basis. Depreciation will be about £70,000 though, and goodness knows what I've spent on petrol. But no regrets, when it's all working there is no better car for my needs. And no point in handing the money to the Chancellor in Inheritance Tax. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I'm just about to change all the fluids myself, well as soon as the weather allows me to comfortably grovel underneath the car that is.
I don't look at how much it will cost me to do the job, but how much I'v saved by doing the job myself. I got that one from the other half when she comes home with two pairs of shoes she doesn't need, but got them because they were half price. The more you spend the more you save logic..... 8½ years of my 2005 (MY2006) AJV8 has cost £12866, so just over £1500 per year in servicing and repairs including Thermostat, Aircon compressor, brake pipes, rear suspension bushes and rear hub bushes, Anti roll bar links, front lower arms, brake disks and callipers all round, Alternator, Suspension compressor, starter motor, rear inner and outer wheel arches, new wheels and tyres and a few other odds and sods. So not too bad, me thinks for a well sorted L322.

Hi, The good news for me now with a 2012 Westie is I've gone through the main pain of getting the car I want and the way I want it, so it's expense for me is keeping it there and on the road.

But that's offset by the fact that as long as I keep it tidy I'm depreciation proof, more or less.

Unfortunately some of the newer models are losing massive amounts in depreciation, something like 50% in 3 to 5 years, so they may be more reliable but Total Cost of Ownership is pretty dire.

That's got to hurt, hats off to ya all for hanging in there and keeping them, because if you let them go, the market for 2013 and newer cars will just tank.

Many thanks for all the info.

I have had my 2012 Westminster TDV8 since September 2023 and have spent £7200 on it so far:

Full service and change of all fluids £1500
Gearbox flush at ZF agent £730
4 x AT tyres £720
Replace all pulleys and tensioners, (a lot of squeaking/clicking in cold weather) belts with genuine parts £1300 inc labour
Replace park brake module with genuine (it jammed on and overheated), rear discs, pads £1500 and £1100 labour = £2600
Replace water pump and alternator as a precaution - parts only £340

Miles driven since purchase 900
Time off road awaiting workshop space - 8 weeks

I'm wondering if it's viable to take to Spain and France in May. Seems to be like the Disco 3 we had, not confidence inspiring and unreliable but fabulous when it works. May have to take our 300Tdi Defender with 238,000 km which seems comprehensively more reliable, if somewhat noisy and bumpy by comparison !!!
