How much have you forked out for your RR since purchase ?

How much have you spent on your RR since purchase ? I mean repairs, maintenance but excluding road tax, insurance and non essential upgrades.

Apologies if this has been asked before somewhere.

Ireland 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

I bought mine in November 23 and so far Id say €1000 ish so not bad considering I've a bit to do yet. I think these are the type of cars you need to get to a certain level of maintenance as in do all the jobs you need to like fluids, brakes etc. Once you have them done you would be hoping for reliability

This is my list done since Nov23
oil cooler
oil change
all filters
small parts missing in engine
key fob
Ipod BT unit Current yokes
2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster
2006 Disco 3
Scoobie GT wagon
Mx5 G Ltd
TT S Line
Pajero JDM Exceed

so far after eight months ownership, I think I've spent ~£1700. Four new tyres, timing belt change and equipment to carry out an oil change oh and new front grill badge and smoked side repeaters, crikey more likely £1800.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have added that up, but since purchase in October 2023...£4,193.14 Confused

Fuel Cap £20.00
Parking Sensors £10.00
Paint for Sensor £15.00
wheels £270.00
wheel refurb £260.00
tyres £565.00
Jack £35.00
Wipers £11.00
Sun visor clip £12.00
washer hose clips £15.00
replace locking wheel nuts £12.00
boot straps £15.00
fog lights £34.00
Welding £260.00
Sill rust (I stupidly got them tarted up at a bodyshop before doing them properly) £280.00
waxoil £14.00
Handbrake £328.80
Service Belts £467.04
CV Boot £343.20
Transfer Case £436.78
GBox Oil Change £549.00
Engine Oil Change £197.74
Air Filter £21.08
Cabin filter £21.50

To be fair, £1,100 of that was wheels, tyres and refurb.

And it is properly sorted now and shouldn't need any money spent until next MOT unless one of the front airbags lets go. Or any number of other disasters occur. ---------------------------------

I try not to think about it too much, it's a totally irrational purchase and I love it to bits.

If I tracked my spend I'd probably scare myself into selling it and buying a Kia

No idea how much I've spent as I'm never going to get it back. I'd not want to have less than £5k per year set asside for repairs and maintenance though if anyone is looking at this to budget their potential ownership costs. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

When I sold the 3.6 to get the 4.4, I looked back through all the service invoices etc. I found that I'd hit nearly £50k in twelve years (160k miles)!

Thus far, the 4.4 has been 2.5k in 2.5 years!

Biggest difference is that the I never lifted a glove on the 3.6, not even an oil change at home, whereas the 4.4 has not seen a workshop other than my own driveway/garage in over 20k miles. This includes doing bigger tasks such as the oil cooler and front struts. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I have kept a spreadsheet to itemise everything since my purchase on 28th December. My objective is to get my car to immaculate condition. I’ve allocated every item to one of three buckets: Restoration, Maintenance, Upgrades.

Restoration: £1,429

Includes full machine polish, minor wheel arch paint, new Bluetooth module, compressor service kit and minor work for MOT.

Maintenance: £1,025

Includes MOT, full service incl gearbox oil change, wheel alignment and new battery.

Upgrades: £215

Includes smoked side repeaters and high level brake light, autobiography style armrest adjusters, interior LEDs, wheel centres (from Stuart) and Land Rover dust caps.

I have yet to have the wheels refurb’d (£380) and I’m sure there are other bits and pieces I will think of.

My overriding impression is that the car isn’t overly costly to maintain (esp vs a previous BMW X6) yet it delivers a vastly superior experience for driver and passengers alike. I love it. Des

Since buying my Mar 2017 car in Nov 2019 and 23k miles in my possession (23k to 46k) I've had 4 MD services, rear discs/pads and 3 tyres (made use of the full size spare!)

Total cost in the region of £3.5k

It's booked in for the next service and MOT in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed! 2017 SDV8 Autobiography
