United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue

This is obviously a joke…. But how much is the fine for driving without insurance? 🤣

A friend of mine back in the early 90s had a car audio shop. He had a mk2 XR2 with the private plate AUD 10. I said it a cool plate…how much did it cost?… he said he had no idea, as the plate wasn’t his but the fine for wrong plate was much less than the cost of the plate and the advertising for his business….

Not sure that would work as well today with all the cameras….

Fine for driving without insurance may be 'unlimited'. They can also seize your vehicle and send it to the crusher.

Just wondering are the pre 2017 cars getting hit harder with insurance costs as they don't get the free security software update that Land Rover are offering?

Might be 2016 and on, but read an article somewhere yesterday that said LR are updating the software to limit the distance between vehicle and key fob, and also making changes so the BCM can't be hacked via the OBD port (to create a new key).

Update - It is 2016, just found the article here:

confused.com have a special running with RAC Car insurance at the moment (March 2024). Comes out as my cheapest option at £535 which is £100 lower than my renewal quote with Saga.

United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

Mine was due in 2 months. I remember reading an article suggesting if you renew early some insurers will offer a much better price than they will at less thnn 30 days before renewal is due. I tried it this time by getting quotes at 60 days. Last year Sheilas wheels charged £538 (age 60+ in devon with 20+ yrs NCB). Their renewal today £1100!

I have already taken early insurance with "friends of Churchill" £598

The moral....get your quotes at 60 days out and accept you "double up" for a month and get a better quote...good luck 2015 Range Rover L405 SDV8 AB Corris grey

The Martin Lewis chap has tracked the dates the insurance quotes rise as you get near your due date for over a decade, and he suggests 23 days before is the sweet spot. Either way, don’t leave it till the last minute. It’s all about risk, and apparently those who leave it late have more accidents.
