Deadlock issue work in progress

Hi All,

First job on the to do list for my new to me L322 is sort out the deadlocked drivers door.

I've got to the point in the pictures by pulling back the door card and removing some of the plastic lock housing but nothing I seem to do from here seems to work. Anyone got any suggestions.

Is the deadlock controlled by the piece in the red circle?

Can’t you access something on the side of the door with the rear passenger door open, in the latch area? I seem to remember a similar post on here at some point….

Thanks. Did have a quick look at that but from what I understand that will only solve the issue if its due to the handle not engaging the lock. YouTube seems to suggest the only say to release the deadlock is by braking the casing on top and moving the latch. I can't seem to see what I'm meant to be releasing though. Perhaps need better access??

I did it be removing the trim along the drivers door window, this allows access inside the door in the gap between the window and the door (from the outside) using a long reach screwdriver. With the screwdriver located on the plastic top of the locking mechanism, give it a good clout to break the plastic. This allows you to poke about just inside the top of the locking mechanism. I just fiddled for a bit and then it suddenly popped when I got the right bit and the door opened. It's a bit hit and miss until you've done it once, but it worked for me.

Note: this does not reset the deadlock and it will still be faulty, so next time you lock it it will jam again, sadly you need a replacement locking mechanism. They're about £300 new (I thought a used one might do exactly the same as the old one).
