Seems one of my rear brake stop lights has failed today.

The only detail given in my manual - 2012 V8TD Westy is that its LED. Does anyone know if its a single bulb replacement or part of the main LED cluster there that needs replacing? seem to be going round in circles on the internet!
Sad

Cheers
Dave

Replace full unit on the LED taillights unless you're brave and want to dismantle the cluster entirely. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Have you checked the wiring to see if it's not a bulb? As said it's a whole unit replacement unless you fancy splitting it apart . 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

My daughter's Freelander2 had a similar issue (yes I know lol but maybe worth a try )

It still didn't work for us. So then used AP200 Code reader and .reset P1703-00 intermittent "Brake switch out of self test range"
P0504-62 intermittent "Brake switch A/B correlation

It happened after passenger fuse box cover was dislodged so suspect a loose wire? Anyway it worked so check and reset DTC's

Apparently the individual circuits have some sort of transistors that protect the module if a fault occurs? maybe its same with FF? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I have a passenger side rear light unit off a 2012 L322 Westminster that I replaced with an US spec one to match the drivers side. Let me know if that would be of interest. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Stop light

Thanks everyone.

The unit replacement then is the way to go if its not a electrical fault. As the Powerful UK option of a replacement LED cluster which was about £100 a year or so ago is no longer available, a whole unit on ebay is an option at £85.

Just had a call from my garage to say the car won't be ready until Monday now as the job of replacing the drive belts has hit a problem with the breakage of a small rubber pipe. Not an uncommon outcome in stripping down apparently. What can you do?

Thanks

Hi All
Just printed these suggestions in full as they will help should I, the amateur, need to fix such a future break at home!!

Thanks again everyone.

Guessing that’ll be the famously fragile coolant return pipe that runs off the large coolant hose at the front / top of the engine.

Can usually be repaired using some form of ‘stent’ opposed buying the whole set of related pipes 👍

I think your right about that pipe you mention Jonathan but at least leaving it there to finish the job I should get it back Monday and earlier in the day at that. Fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong and the replacement pipes comes at £100, plus VAT I suppose.

Cheers
David

Update and question

Hi All

Collected the car from the garage yesterday but waiting for the bill which hopefully is reasonable. Strangely the brake light fault has disappeared and is working properly again? Whilst welcome anyone else experienced something similar? Also on the return journey the smart key warning appeared on the dash - battery low! Is the car manual incorrect as it states insert new battery + side up? Mine only works "negative" side up. I know I have a functioning key fob but isn't life confusing enough?

Onwards and Up.
Cheers
Dave
