Not really happy with the quality of lighting when on the low beam mode.
Can you fit a light bar?
Is it legal?

I think the light bar would only be legal off-road.

There’s loads of LED bulb upgrades on eBay and AE as mentioned in the other threads. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I fit LED bulbs last week. There is no additional glare as they are projector headlights and are properly aimed. They we under $30 Canadian from AliExpress. Much better than Xenon, instant on, and bright. I have been running and retrofitting Xenon headlights since 2000.

Those that retrofit LED bulbs in reflector style headlights or improperly aligned projector headlights are the cause of the problem.

I would not add an LED light bar behind the grill as I have on other vehicles. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

Glare from headlamps essentially is light escaping from the designed pattern. Unfortunately a lot of people are putting high power LEDs into headlamp bowls that were never designed for them.

The headlamp and, protective lens and parabolic mirror are very carefully designed to match a specific bulb type and radiation pattern, if you then fit another type of bulb only a fool would assume it will work as designed, pot luck perhaps, but poor all the same.

Sure it's going to be brighter if it generates high lumens but the light pattern is all over the place, it may conform to the set cutoff rules but there will probably be considerable stray light escaping, thus dazzle or glare.

For those that wear prescription glasses, prisms, contact lenses or IOL implants the impact can be quite blinding driving at night.

If you can't see at night with D3S bulbs from a premium brand on the Range Rover, you probably need your own eyes testing.

So please stop being obsessed with brightness and spare a thought for those of us who are over the age of 3.

I had an L322 and now an L405 yes the headlights aren't as bright but I think they are more than adequate and I'm over 70 and wear glasses so my rallying days are over (its the wrong sort of car anyway). I used to have Cibie and Marchall spotlights for hammering through forestry sections at breakneck speeds. Obviously crashed and overturned a few vehicles but more interested in wafting along in serene comfort now. Geoff

Unless the L405 headlights are inferior to the L322 then there is no need to modify what you have & of course all those that have modified their headlamps have informed their insurance companies......
