That's dependent upon area. My sister's not long had a NIP and wasn't offered a SAC as the subsequent letter stated she'd already done one in 2023 when she was last caught out, so it's different in certain places. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
Previous V8s: BMW 645Ci, P38 4.6, P38 4.0, Merc CL500
Previous others: Honda x1, Volvo x7, Rover x6, BMW x6, Ford x1, Mercedes x2, Skoda x3, VW x2, Renault x2, Citroen x1, Mazda x3, Nissan x1, Audi x3, Kia x1, Fiat x4, Subaru x3, Austin x2, Triumph x2, Jeep x2, Hyundai x2, Lexus x1, Mitsubishi x1, Saab x2... and some others I've forgotten!

Well I've done the first bit - fessing up that it was me driving, SWMBO insisted, it was her car but I'm chauffeuring at the moment until her knee gets better. She can't get in the Range Rover (my car) even with the steps. I'll post on here what comes next from Lancashire Constabulary, like I said I did one in 2022. Geoff

Sounds like the insurance industry has upped all insurances this last year. My son has a BMW320d Touring and his insurance has doubled. My wifes Abarth 500 insurance has almost doubled. Mine went up a 1/3rd to just over £700 which was a big hike. I use my RR for towing and its the best vehicle for that purpose so the insurance price is what it is to be honest

Trouble is the insurance companies are unregulated so are chancing their arm and putting prices up across the board. If people pay, the prices stay high. What alternatives do we have?

As for thefts, are JLR offering any increased security options for older models like my 2016 model? Doubt they will so I’ve taken measures into my own hands with aftermarket security and tracking L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current

Anecdotally, insurance companies aren’t/weren’t making any allowances for Ghosts or any other aftermarket security solutions. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

In Australia you are covered by the government for Third Party insurance (part of the Rego). This means if you injure anyone, you are covered but will still have to pay for the repairs to the third party vehicle as well as your own car. Given that the biggest cost would be for an injured third party person is covered, you would expect comprehensive insurance to be a bit cheaper. No chance, I was paying over $1200 a year for comprehensive cover. Also the Rego goes on the number of cylinders so my V8 Rego was at the top.

Like everyone I was dreading the renewal and was pondering a sorn. Renewal came through for the 4.2 SC from Admiral for £485.00. A quick comparison site and cash back returned £234.00 (for the year not the month) via Aviva so I’m taking that.

How far apart were they? They do keep records as it's not offered if you have had one in the last 3 years 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I recall some years ago, my insurance company said my policy would be cheaper to keep the car outside on the drive, rather than in the garage.

The logic being that if they get into your garage unseen, they can spend more time trying to gain access to the car without being seen. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I had a panicked phone call from Mrs S yesterday that the insurance renewal for her Evoque had landed with a 75% increase in premium. Part of me thought that was a positive as at least she could get insurance.

Anyway, I put her details into a common market checker and there were a couple of companies that would provide cover for no increase over the previous year. Result!!

Now, the annoying thing is, hers has no additional security, obviously same address and drivers (albeit main driver is reversed) and mine has multiple additional security measures, none of which seem to be acknowledged. Hers stays the same, mine went up 100%. Baffling.

Just had to insure my new to me 2010 L322 4.4 TDV8. Insurance provider for the policy on my outgoing Discovery 3, quoted me £3200 for the Range Rover. Absolutely laughable to be honest! They said it’s because it’s a Range Rover and lots are getting stolen at the moment!? I’m like yeah the new ones in London. I’m in Devon and mines 14 years old.
Anyway, comparison website came up with £720 with an online only provider called FLOW. Everything done via the website so I don’t even have to pay for any admin fees should cover need to be tweaked. Still expensive, but it’ll do.
