Totally agree. Mine jumped from under £400 to near £1000 in Sept there. I’ve tried the compare quotes, but most were more than my renewal. Unbelievable. It is a complete con all round I think. V8 or else ... |

I just ran a renewal quote and a company I haven't seen for a while with one of the lowest premiums is the RAC. Just over £700 for a L405 SDV8. The cheaper ones all have terrible customer service reviews. |

My son has his renewal coming up, he has an early 2013 L405, no speeding, clean licence, no claims, parked overnight in locked garage with Ghost Theft Protection ( cost him £500 back in February) , he lives Enfield ( inside the M25 ) North London, best quote he get could get was £2400 - up from £550 last year !

RR's are high end luxury cars. L405's in particular are theft magnets due to their vulnerability to keyless theft and a very high risk for insurers. They have never been cheap to run or insure and everyone's motoring costs are increasing along with all the other costs of living. Man complains his RR is expensive to run - in other news bears in woods..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

my insurance has gone up 100% to just a bit over £1k so annoying but not stupid. What I cant understand is why many of us are on paper, good risks but are getting shafted with these 100% or much more sized increases, whereas as others, who to us seem similar risks, are being quoted very modest increases? I tinkered with my supplied info, all within the bounds of being true and it made next to no difference. I use my car for work, will that be the biggest risk? First time FFRR owner |

You have to understand how ins companies assess the risk and therefore the premium. A lot is simply down to the total cost of claims in your area which has no relation to an individuals actual risk. Some stuff is unknown and commercially confidential and don’t be surprised if they are using AI and data collected from shopping sites, google etc. Even if this data is anonymous it may have geographical tags which link to your area and influence the risk assessment. Some stuff is counter intuitive as well so for instance my premium came down when I stopped parking it overnight in my secured office car park and parked it on the street at home simply because parking at the registered address is deemed lower risk irrespective of the actual risk….. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I think I just shot my self in the proverbial insurance foot, just got a NIP for not seeing a speed camera. Just a few mph over the limit but it'll be a fine a three points and an insurance uplift. Geoff |

Last time I was trying to work out if points make prizes, my insurance wasn’t bothered about SP30 etc, only dangerous driving, care and attention…. Might be different now of course, but you may be ok….

You should get the offer a a speed awareness course if they don't offer it ask for it. It's all done over zoom nowadays once upon a time you had to attend a glass room session followed by a drive around. |
