L322 4.4 TDV8 2012 Exhaust carbon build up.

I would appreciate some advice, as I have not been doing much long-distance driving lately, the amber DPF warning light came on, did a 50 mile trip on the A1, then the red DPF warning light came on going into limp mode, booked her into the garage who has said that a flush perhaps wouldn't work, they advise changing the DPF filters, but these are incredibly expensive, should I,

Do get a flush done by a specialist DPF cleaning company?

Change the DPF exhaust filters?

Have a new Stainless straight pipe exhaust with fake DPF's and remove the rear silencer?

Buy a specialist off the shelve Stainless but who's review's the best manufacturer?

Best thing to do is to identify the cause of the problem. The sytstem will clean itself unless it can't regenerate due to faulty sensors or it's generating soot too fast due to intake air leaks. A flush won't help in the long run nor will DPF replacement. Did the garage do diagnostic scan on the ECU? - this would identify any faulty sensors. A smoke test on the intake will identify any air leaks. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Many thanks for your input, the garage, perhaps I wasn't listening properly when he called, I'm sure no sensor fault or air leak was talked about, but I can ask them for more info.
I had already planned at some point! not just yet though, to replace the centre and rear standard factory exhaust with a SS to improve performance, but that's down the line, it's just working out the best cost effective methodology.

Treat the root cause not the symptom. Usually an air leak. Loads of thread topics on here.
A good specialist will find the root cause. A DPF cleaning person won’t. They just want your cash to clean it it. Make sense? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Many thanks for your input, should the diagnosing garage, who is also an MOT station, be able to find if there is a air intake leak, and where would this leak likely to be?

The stock exhaust is SS Wink and on a deisel you won't find any power gains with a better exhaust. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Yes, if they know what they’re looking for. High pressure smoke test will find a hose leak.
Do not take it to a main dealer or a non LR specialist Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
