Reverse light brightness poor

Wife is not impressed with the reverse light output in the dark, to save reinventing the wheel has anyone got a suggested improvement? ( changing the wife doesn’t count ) Previous Discovery 3 she found great of but not the 404 AB

Answers on a postcard please

I also think this. I never worked out what a good solution should be or where is mount extra lights. SDV8 AB MY 2020

this is for a L405 Andy Wink ..

other than extra lighting, be it powered by the tow electrics or an other feed then you're stuck with what you have.

you could switch on the hazards when reversing , this would give you some extra illumination.. ... - .- -.

I agree reverse lighting is not good. I have made a bracket that holds a mini light bar that inserts into the fixed tow bar receiver and connects to the tow plug. Obviously works well when not towing, is removable and doesn’t reduce the departure angle.

Totally agree.

My fatty always goes onto the drive nose first, -to plug in it’s CTEK “heart monitor” Laughing

But when I have to reverse my daily driver truck in, I have the same problem with a pitch black driveway, so just lightly ride the brake pedal whilst reversing, -much better! Not hit the fatty yet! Laughing Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I've pondered this too but yet to take action. I think a solution is one of those brackets that holds two LED cubes onto the tow shaft - you can find many on Amazon. Being a range rover, I'd get a pro auto electrician to wire it up.

If it's mainly a problem when reversing onto a drive, what about a couple of LED sensor lights? I've got 2 down the side of the house with solar panels on the top, they weren't expensive and are still going strong after about 5 years.

I know that doesn't help when out and about.... MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Do the later facelift rear lights work better?

I don't think so as it is what I have. I know and have used the brake light to light up behind better.

I am wondering if I put a light on the panel covering the tow-bar. As that can be replaced. SDV8 AB MY 2020

@stan
The rear led light strip that you fitted does it help with lighting up behind the car for reversing? SDV8 AB MY 2020

I fitted a strip led light but have since damaged it and need another cover, the lights ok but snapped the clips on the cover.
It’s wired to the tow hitch wires.

Sorry - I had my L322 hat on(disregard the bottom unless you have an L322 as well)
.
I just went down to the shop and the L405 MY16 anyway... would be a bit to get into it. It appears that there are 6 LED 'bulbs' on each side. I will have to look and see if the reverse light are as bad on the L405 as they are on the L322. Because of the nature of the housing, I would say that the best way to go would involve either cutting or possibly just mounting a strip(s) to the lower bumper fascia and wiring into the tow harness.

I know Sam of Sam's Motors and Machines on YouTube did some for his L322

This is a livestream of him doing it...

Lord knows I am always game to give something a shot!
These even come with the round adapter that works with the L322... not sure of the L405 reverse lights - I have not cracked that open yet...
