Engine warning light prompted a trip to the dealer. They kindly looked at this for me the same day without a booking. No fix was done however as the replacement part needed is apparently on back order with no ETA.

Summary I was given was “… will require temperature sensor bank 1 sensor 1”.

I’m not sure where or what the sensor belongs to (exhaust or engine perhaps?). Does anyone know whether an alternative to a LR OEM part could be used for this.

I’ve been told that using the car in the meantime should be OK. However the nightmare that is the current JLR parts setup makes me nervous that this could be a long wait for a replacement sensor. 2016 SDV8 AB

I think this is the same sensor that I’ve just had replaced. If so, it’s the Exhaust Gas Temperature on the passenger side, it’s located in the manifold and is a mare to get to.

The tech who did mine didn’t have any problem obtaining one, but he did say that around this model year Land Rover decided to renumber all the sensors when viewed via ODB, so worthy a double check.

Interesting to see some mentions there of odd smells when idling which is definitely something I picked up. Seemed to me like a mix of exhaust fumes and binding brakes… 2016 SDV8 AB
