4.4 TDV8 oil pump leaking

Hello all

Has anyone experienced a leaking oil pump on a 4.4TDV8? Mine is leaking from the threaded blank in the top of the assembly.

Can I remove the blank and seal it with something? I'm assuming there is a spring and relieve valve or something similar inside? Anyone been here before

It’s a known weak point and iirc it can be fixed by removing the plug, use some suitable sealant and reassemble.
I’ve definitely read some threads about it on here so suggest the “Search” function. Click on it in the brown banner Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Regarding this thread. Do you think my oil leak could be from the top of the pump?

Thanks

I'd get it to specialist to diagnose it tbh.
Have you cleaned it all off and then run it for a few miles? That will show it more accurately. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Shouldn't need a 'specialist' to diagnose this as it doesn't need specialist diagnostic kit and they are just going to eyeball it like anyone else. I agree the best way is to clean off the oil with brake cleaner to get a better idea where it's coming from. As the belt is contaminated it will need replacing anyway whatever the source of the leak and this is the big job that is best entrusted to a specialist as it involves removal of the rad shroud and fan unit. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

When mine was leaking oil at the front the fan was chucking it all over the inside of the engine bay. Turned out to be the gallery plugs which is a pig of a job apparently and lovely little four-figure bill for the conscientious owner to rectify.

Good luck! 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue

Mine was hairline crack in the driverside inlet manifold gasket. Whilst the chaps were their the changed the manifold prone to cracking so best be safe. All good no oil misting now. Also new gasket on the vacuum pump and no oil smoke out the exhaust either. Now test run to the alps
