Well, it's freezing cold in the garage, I'm not allowed to fiddle with car bits in the kitchen (why?), so I haven't been able to give this much attention. However, it looks as if there will need to be a 12v supply to replicate the action of the central locking/superlock, but I cannot see any obvious mechanical reason for the failure. When I do finally get around to having a proper look, I'll report back. In the meantime the new lock is functioning as it should, so apart from a screw through the sidewall of one of my brand new (3,000 miles) Pirelli PNCS tyres, rendering it scrap, all is back to normal!
