My neighbour owns a 2023 Porche 911. He was recently hit by someone (not his fault). It took 6 weeks to get his car repaired. Whilst it was in the bodyshop he was provided with a loan vehicle. They could not supply a matching Porche so they arranged an Audi RS8 at over £900 per day. That is why the cost of repairs is so high. All dealt with by a claims management company. 2013 Vogue SE SDV8

Yes, the non fault ‘like for like’ replacement cars must be having a big impact on premiums. They are crazy prices vs what it would cost to rent the same car privately and often their idea of a fair replacement isn’t the same as mine would be!

Recent examples I know of personally, are a brand new SQ7 Vorsprung (V8 petrol) to replace a 7-8 year old SQ5 and a well specced Panamera Sport Turismo in place of a £55k Polestar. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Seen a report that thefts of LR's are run away, literally, in Khan's London and Burnham's Manchester. 90 cars a month being taken for a ride in London. This has led to a 30% drop in trade prices on most newer LR models and a 300% rise in insurance premiums; if you can actually get insurance offers in cities.

The current thefts trend is full on Sierra Cosworth of the 80's where those cars got insurance priced out of the market.

Pistonheads has a long running thread on LR insurance as well. Even LR are no longer offering LR Insurance for their vehicles cause the underwriters wont support it apparently. Confused

They should outright ditch keyless entry. It clearly offers little benefit security wise and to the consumer and industry makes the car less viable to be bought and looked after ... so ditch it. V8 or else ...

Keyless isn’t the issue on the newer cars - criminals just find and exploit any method available.

These cars are desirable for export to 3rd world countries so likley whatever security is fitted the thieves will find a way to take them as the demand is there. If they can't take them from the driveway they will move to home invasion and carjacking to get them. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
