Gutted broke down had to be recovered ..update..

Driving along nicely then noticed we were slowing gradually no response from throttle, then restricted performance and gradually ground to a holt, engine sounded like it wasn’t running on all 8, no smoke not really noisy but no response from throttle, on a long pitch black road luckily a copper pulled up behind and put blues on, I could start engine to get in in neutral to get it on tow truck engine running really rough again no response from throttle then it would die, no idea what’s gone wrong 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

Sounds like fuel starvation - when was the filter last changed, or perhaps contaminated with water. I also had similar symptoms with a new RR Classic in 1987. It was a rubber fuel tank seal that had dropped into the tank on assembly and had been sucked up by the fuel intake pipe blocking off the fuel supply. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I'd be checking the new filter, is it possible to fit it incorrectly and it foul/get sucked into the system enough to bllock? First time FFRR owner

Yikes, that’s really, really rare on a 4.4 TDV8. A seriously bad bit of luck!

My 5.0 v8 Supercharged L405 had an engine rebuild after it slipped a cog on timing chain, it now runs better than ever in fact just like its rolled out of factory. If you need a good garage as a recommendation then happy to provide details, only trouble is that its in Essex but very worth travelling for. let me know if you need details. Good luck and hope it's not too bad.

Hi Drf can you send details please ive got a few leads one is by the garage who did the video earlier in the thread £4500 to collect, replace timing chains etc, an extra £700 per cam shaft if there damaged so potentially £6800 or range rover engine specialists in Essex (could be the one you used) a full reconditioned engine £7500.00 but only 6 months warranty 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

Wifeys has just gone pop! Ive chosen to buy a damaged car and remove the engine! Worried me going down the rebuild route, as JLR don't sell any engine parts!
