Help, I need a spare key

Hi

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a spare key for my 2012 L322 RR?

I would prefer a genuine key if possible but the most important thing is having a spare.

Thanks 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Santorini black ivory leather

Don't know about where but once you have one and if you have a GAP IID Bluetooth then you can code it yourself.
Another reason that a GAP IID Bluetooth is essential for L322 owners Bow down Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I hope you have deep pockets! Depending on which main dealer you talk to, some will claim they must replace your keyless vehicle module also (absolute nonsense). So, the quote will range from £650 to a smidge over £1,000.

A good mobile auto locksmith (just search Google for people near you) will do one for £250 (seems a standard price whoever you use). They probably won't use a genuine key shell or chrome/metal bezel though, but they're straightforward to change over to a real one (genuine shells are around £50).

Your alterative is to buy a blank (about £90) and use a GAP tool to programme it to the car. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

It's not nonsense, it's the only way dealers can do it with the tools mandated by the manufacturer.
There are workarounds, but not ones that a dealer can / will do.
The problem with the workarounds is they leave the 'missing' key slot open but inactive, with the key and the right device, you can easily & quickly reactivate key slots.

There is a misnomer that the key is programmed to the car - it's actually the other way around, there is no such thing as a 'blank' key.

I spoke to Timpson the shoe and key people and they confirm 2 options for the L322.

£420 (£120 more than website price) for a genuine Landrover key to be supplied and coded for my car.
£220 for a aftermarket key to be supplied and coded for my car.

The guy I spoke to said the only real difference would be the lack of landrover branding on the key. Was also advised the blanks from Landrover are notoriously difficult to get and could take 3 months maybe longer.

The third option is one I used a couple of times for friends when I had my FullFat.
As I had an IID tool I was able to add another VIN for £60 and bought a fob off eBay for £30.

So total cost to each of them was £90, which is far cheaper than you are being quoted (you won’t have the blade key but how many times has that been an issue, as long as you have one in your other fob).

So you may be able to find a helpful forum member locally who will do what I did.

Then there is a fourth option - buy an IID tool on eBay - there a few on there at the moment - then program your own cheap fob from eBay, then sell the IID tool for more or less what you paid for it (they will always sell!). 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀
2009 3.6 V8 (MY2010) - my first ever diesel! - now also gone Sad
2004 4.4 V8 Petrol Vogue - now gone

Thanks Chris,

Are there any members within a reasonable distance of wimblington PE15 0RS who would be kind enough to assist as per Chris’s suggestion?
