Motoreasy Extended Warranty - rant

I've got one of these, cost me 3 grand for 3 years "piece of mind". Well that is what it was sold to me as but they have a lot of discretion about what they pay out on (I have to pay 50% anyway on my old 405) but I understood from the policy that I would have to pay for a replacement SatNav antenna, so I did. However my Headlamp unit may not be covered (it will fail its MOT as the shutter is stuck on dip) the Cooler doesn't work anymore (not covered), the Side Steps are playing up (not covered) the retractable towbar is playing up (not covered). It was sold to me as 3 years piece on mind but I seem to spend my time arguing with them so anything but piece of mind. I think lots of effort in the selling little or no thought to customer satisfaction afterwards - rant over. Geoff

Totally agree Geoff, they all seem to have so many "Not covered" items it makes you wonder what is... even the JLR one has limited items on an older fatty....

It's the main reason I didn't renew mine, even the leaking ARC pipes that I've just done weren't covered as they failed due to rust.... Pete

Likewise, my warranty company wouldn't cover the ARC pipes when they rusted through......"Sorry sir, corrosion isn't covered!"......FFS, and you have the neck to ask me to renew?

You won't need 3 guesses on my answer!

Mike

Being on 'the other side' of aftermarket warranties, I just wouldn't bother. Stick roughly the same amount in a savings A/C, top-up when you can and you'll have a 'warranty without grief' - or at least a good start towards the repair.
Same goes for pet insurance, the older they get, the less is covered - we have never bothered with that either.
