Plugging in Mongoose JLR gives instant error codes

Hello over here,

I recently acquired a new (to me) L405 4.4sdv8 LWB AB.

I had the JLR Mongoose cable left from my previous L322 supercharged.

When plugging in this cable, without even being connected to my laptop (visa-versa is the same), my car starts throwing all possible faults. (numerous amount)

When ignoring these faults, i can continue working and even change the CCF.

Any ideas why my vehicle instantly throws all errors when plugging-in the OBD JLR mongoose socket?

Thanks MY2008 Buckingham Blue Supercharged - gone

You need to remove pin 13 from the mongoose connector as it is not implemented on earlier vehicles but 2013 on it causes a short on the MS Can and hence you get lots of warning lights and errors until you unplug it and leave the car to shutdown.

You'll probably find your Mongoose isn't a genuine item, if so be careful if re-flashing any modules and make sure you have a battery support unit connected.

Hope this helps! L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

I wish I’d known this … I’d spent ages trying to get it working and had the above issue … I’ll maybe try again. V8 or else ...

And me, my solution was to buy the genuine JLR VCI, then I discovered the pin 13 solution, worked perfectly, but just use the JLR unit now as most Mongooses are clones and *can* screw up when flashing ecu's.
