With a DPF it needs to be C1 specification - I used Millers Oils Trident Professional C1 5w-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil as Castrol wasn't available at the time in the correct spec. You don't need to reset via the OBD port, have a look in the WSM (link in the Wiki) for details of how to read & reset the oil level & service interval reset |

Yep C1 it is, and PETRONAS is good enough for Lewis Hamilton and co.

I don't mean to hi jack the thread but I have some some oil left over from changes I have done (I always get 10L but my Range Rover takes less), some Smith and Allan some Castrol and I was thinking of the offer from Opie for next time(Petronas). Can it be safely mixed if it's all C1 5-30W and fully synthetic. Or should I stop hoarding and take it to the tip, Geoff |

If it's all the same viscosity, specification & composition, then it'll be fine. |

I did 700 miles in under 4 weeks of driving. Its strange I was hammering it a bit to see if it made any difference, and it did, the mileage service interval went up. Soon as i hit motorway speeds for an 1/2 hr to an 1hr it reduces. Anyway I did my first RR oil change today. Very easy with the vacuum pump. Costs were, oil £120, filter £8. torque wrench £40, 36mm socket £16. |

Then there is a concern, either the oil level is not reading correctly, there is a sensor issue with the DPF regen or the last oil change was not reset correctly. Use this oil change as a baseline and monitor the service interval countdown. would also be helpful to do a full vehicle DTC read, if you have the capability. |
