Did the left side door handles this morning. Took some sanding to smooth out the top and still, there is some pitting to the plastic itself. Ideally should have applied several layers of base and sanded it down again but quite frankly I don't think it's worth the effort. Pretty happy with the result and I can revisit at any time. Though something is telling me that I won't have to, not any time soon...

Thank you, Pete. It was a much needed job. Right side ones to follow next week, weather permitting. Those are not nearly as bad as the left hand side.

Rear seats trim

The black trim between the seats had also been peeling off. The material is exactly the same as the latch release buttons trim at the top of the seat backs. And so is the treatment. Complete strip down and several coats of black plastics spray.

These trim pieces are held in place by three philps screws and a large tab on the inner curve that hugs the latching mechanism. It takes some recklessness, ahem, courage to remove and even more putting them back but don't be afraid to bend them as necessary; there's no way around it. Then you may as well book with a physiotherapist for your index fingers. Thumbs Up

Too windy to work outside so the door handles on the right are postponed.

Time to deal with the gummy mess that lets down an otherwise near pristine interior.

Steelwool works a treat...

That's good enough

After some reinforcement and sanding down the excess material, it's time to paint Thumbs Up

I'm quite happy with the result. I'd give this job an 8/10. Looks a lot better even though the colour came out a bit ... buffier than the original. Still acceptable imho.

You can order the correct colour from here....

https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/colour-c...lour-chart

Their leather paint is suitable for trim if you use the adhesion promoter and crosslinker, lasts a long time Thumbs Up

Does look good though.. Thumbs Up .. Pete

I don't think they do spray cans...

I use a touchup spraygun running off a compressor, if you don't have a compressor then the "fill yourself" spray cans is an option or an air brush works well.... Thumbs Up Pete

The horrible, sticky coating of the cup holders had been peeling for ages. Somehow I never seemed to get around to doing something about it.

Probably because it's a 10' job stripping them to reveal the healthy plastic underneath. Thumbs Up Some Würth dashboard care spray on a microfiber cloth, bit of elbow grease and they're like new Very Happy

PS: Steering wheel spoke covers can be treated the same way to reveal a glossy (almost piano black) finish which isn't half bad, really.

That looks good, and won't wear off, if your door window switches are peeling you can peel it all off and get a good finish, if you think the cup holder took a long time it's a 2min job compared to the buttons...!!! It's a "nearly free" job though... Thumbs Up Pete

Great job! I removed the tailgate trim using dental floss.
