Upgrade to Touch Screen AC Panel

Hi All!

Never being one to leave perfectly functioning items alone, I have decided to bite the bullet on upgrading the Heating/AC/Seats panel to the newer (>2018) look on my 2017 FFRR.

Has anyone done this using the Ali Express (or similar) advertised hardware? - I'm looking for recommendations rather than being a trail-blazer (but if no one has tried before, I'll have a go!)

I have found this - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005505...el=twinner
which looks like it might be suitable but it doesn't (obviously) have a CD slot and I'm old-school so I'd like to retain that...
Or there is this one; https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004478...el=twinner which does have the CD slot...

Does anyone have any experience and suggestions (with links if possible)

Thanks in advance! 2017 - L405 SC - WOW! just WOW!
2014 - L405 4.4
2010 - L322 3.6 - Carried me 100,581 miles then broke big-time

I got mine from VikNAV on AliExpress. They have a disc slot.

Thanks Bora20 - much appreciated - I shall take a look.

Did you lose any functionality when you replaced the factory one with this one? 2017 - L405 SC - WOW! just WOW!

It added functionality as my OEM panel did not have seat heating/cooling and an upgraded OEM panel wouldn’t work.

THe 4-zone climate control temp works on the screen, but the screen only shows 3-zone. The rear controls work fine.

If I had the OEM heating/cooling panel I would not change it. That was my main focus as with the upgraded android main screen it took far too long/too many menus to get to the seat heating in the winter. At -20C, I want to be in the RR for as little time as possible when starting the RR to let it warm up. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

Yes the joy of Canadian winter. I had my mech confirm that I have a factory block heater. Land Rover in their wisdom stop providing the cables as standard. Will get a cable fitter for the forthcoming cold season.

Well.... I bit the bullet and paid my money to VikNAV and eight days later a very well protected box came to my door.

Inside was a very well protected HVAC screen and 15 minutes later it was fitted to my car and working perfectly.

(It would have taken 5 minutes if there had been any indication that you needed to scavenge the spring clips off the old panel to put on the new one)

All-in-all a well made piece of electronics, quite robust to handle and in use, that fitted and worked perfectly.

Now... what should I upgrade next....

Looks like I spoke too soon....

I have had to remove the new bits and put the old bits back in as there was/is an issue or two;
1. The car always started in re-circulation mode (it was steaming hot when I installed it, so did not notice this)
2. The automatic fan speed adjustment does not work: if you manually adjust the temperature it does not increase to feed more cold/warm air in as appropriate
3. The back left temperature adjustment (four zone) adjusts the front left temperature.

I am in discussions with VikNav.

I'll keep you posted. 2017 - L405 SC - WOW! just WOW!
