its probably the bonnet getting hot and setting the sensor alarm off..disconnect it and see if that helps.. ... - .- -.

On my 2011 Supercharged I had exactly the same a year or two ago, the alarm going off (thinking the bonnet was open) on super sunny days. On mine the bonnet switch/plunger is on the opposite side to the battery. I ran with it disconnected for several months until I next placed an order for parts (as the switch itself cost less than the postage I think!), but did then fit a new switch and it's been absolutely perfect again for the last year or so. |

I've been nosing about under the bonnet looking for that switch, without success. However, if your 2011 has the simple plunger, I'm stumped to figure why they would do it differently on the diesel. Seems as if some more nosing around is called for. It's not as if there isn't room for it under there....

I found it. It's been staring me in the face this whole time. Unplugged it now, so we'll see how it goes.

If it’s still the plunger, bend the bracket up so it’s nearer the bonnet or put a grommet or similar on the end to make it a bit longer, though obviously if you unplug it, it will prove that it’s the issue.

Thanks. I read that tip before, which is why I went looking for the switch in the first place. It's all a very plausible explanation, with one major flaw: I never got a random "bonnet open" warning when the car was running - not once. It still remains the most likely culprit, but I'll just have to see. Typically, It's now cloudy with occasional drizzle and no warm and sunny days ahead. I may have to wait until May '24 before I can close the book on this one...

I didn’t get a bonnet open when running either.
