If replacing the whole thing, is it like to use same fixing points and the current one?

Also, any recommendations on a detachable one to go for?

The tow bars use all the same points as the existing, however you do need to replace the whole assembly which means rear bumper off and the exhaust silencer supported on axle stands.

There's only 2 or 3 tow bars made now for the L322, which makes the decision a bit easier.

Witter - this is a fixed tow bar and also has a lot of metal on show (good if you use it for commercial uses and need to attach tow ropes and all sorts but a bit unsightly for road use imo)
Tow Trust TL249 - fixed flange however the amarture is removable (2x bolts) - this is what I have






(I located the electrics on the underside for a more discreet set up. It came with the plate to install by the tow ball).

Tow Trust TL249VK / TL249AVK - as above, but the detachable tow bar
Steinhof - not really available in the UK

Last question, is there a preferred supplier of the one you have?

Mine is the same as garyrr, Tow Trust, twin electrics on mine however as my caravan has the two 7 pin plugs.
It cost £400+/- fitted at Indispension Newcastle.
Mines a 2006 TDV8 so isn't plug and play.

I'd contact Tow Trust with some additional photos first.

I'm relatively confident this looks like a Tow Trust bar. I expect they make them to a standardised size and if it is, they may be able to sell you just the detachable section or a replacement flange to fit.

Im going to be new to towing on a caravan and using ball and pin. Lots of experience towing, but with a big towing pintle for big trailers/generators.

I just want to make sure it's not going to fall off the back haha!

If I don't replace whole unit, I will clean up in the slot where the swan neck sits do you thing this should be greased too?

I think I have determined that it is a Witter detachable.

I have found one online for a Skoda Yeti, but the receiver for the swan neck looks the same.

I have contacted Witter asking if there is a part available to fit. In the mean time, can anyone else shed some light on it?

silly question ,the adaptor isnt hidden in the cubby hide hole on the right hand side ?
well miracles do happen.
Otherwise try a range rover breaker ,bought one for mine for £150.00 . yes it isnt a detachable one but it fits works and was loads cheaper than the official westfalia adaptor plate id have to have
just an out of the box way of thinking

The detachable swan neck usually has a part number beginning with ZD (e.g. ZD3004) once you have this number I am sure a search on eBay will yield a result.

I tested the existing 13 pin socket today with a made up lighting board the caravan dealer has. All worked, but there was nothing in the dash to say it was using the socket.

In other cars I’ve towed with a there has been a separate light for the indicators, or an additional beep when indicating.

Should there be something think this on the 2012 L322?

I did read about it needing to be told it’s going to tow? Also might be because it’s just a lighting board and only the light pins are being used?

The electrics look for the load of tungsten stop light bulbs to enable the car to know there is a trailer present. LED's do not draw enough current.
Once it recognizes the load, the indicator repeater will light up and the software will ask what type of trailer is connected.
