I’d steer well clear of anything early production, let alone pre production! |

The last full size picture looks like it’s showing VX12 on the front plate. And the wheels are different from the first to picture and the last one too. And the rear glass is different too, dark on one clear on the other. Looks like two different cars |

To address Kitboys question, is that a pre-prod is still effectively testing the car or is it a case they are fully tested and signed off but produced for publicity purposes?

Hi All, I might need to publish this as a new thread but am interested in know from anyone with 2012/2013 early or pre-production L405 is that have the same starting chassis details. I have a fully loaded pre-production L405 that I purchased 6 years ago, then on number plate VX12 ODS. The chassis number starts SALGA2JE7DA0011** does this match with production cars as the Land Rover Service database does not bring up similar chassis numbers as existing? As a 2013 model year car, the log book is very strange, saying the car was first registered Aug 12, but then the V5 was not first issued until Jan 14, with the first owner being Land Rover Gaydon until then, a photograph of the car at the factory back then was also available without badges. As with these other pre-production cars it would be good to know what happened to them and where chassis numbers started. The car has virtually all the extras that were available from new, including the 1700w stereo and in the 70,000m it has done it has only a some very minor problems. Just at the stage where I might sell it but don't want to see it go. |

Did a google search of VX12 images and did a reverse chassis number lookup, found these... Most are LHD and lots will not be registered in the UK, I am sure there will be plenty more to find, but it looks like not many of them made it onto the road in the UK...

I think I have answered my own question by doing this. A search of 2012 L405 cars for sale brings back chassis numbers starting DA1
