Hi all,

I may be doing a rubbish job of searching on here, but I'm currently on the lookout for a FF Range Rover, settled on the 4.4 V8 - Ideally 2011/12.

I'll be moving on from my Jag XF S Portfolio 2012 which appears to have quite a lot of bits shared with the RR.

I couldn't choose between the RR Sport and the Full RR until I sat in both. My mind is made up and I still don't really know why!

I have a fairly limited budget for the market, I think. I want to keep a couple of grand to one side expecting to have to do some bits. I'm not sure if I should go Dealer - Warranty or Private - Lesser price, save some more behind. Most warranties try and get out of doing anything anyway...

I'm looking to spend around £11k. Maybe max £13k for the right one. That still gives me something in the back pocket.

Should I be overly concerned about mileage? I've always been far more focused on condition. My Jag has done 126k on the 3.0 v6 diesel and i've had cambelt, pump, inlet manifolds done in my time. But the engine doesn't miss a beat.

Is the 4.4 known to be fine with high mileage? I won't actually do many miles a year - 8k probably.

Any help / advice / pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated!

I got mine with 67k and little history and have had to do a lot of “catch up” maintenance….. thank goodness for Glenrands at Liphook ! TDV8 4.4 2012

Good luck with the search! Your budget looks ok, but I think you'll probably have to look at quite a few to find a sweet one. Rust and lack of maintenance are the main problems, even ones with FLRSH will probably require 'catch up' maintenance on things like gearbox fluid/filter, diff and transfer case oils, belts, pullies and tensioners when the mileage is up around 100,000.

Maintenance can be caught up with, hopefully without major issues assuming the mileage isn't intergalactic, but if the rust is bad it will be major ££ to sort out. I'd hold out for long enough to find one with minimal rust, they are out there.

Ignore service history and just get it checked over by a specialist before you buy. JLR's oil change interval is too long to be an indicator it's been properly cared for. Best buy from an enthusiast here who has looked after it properly..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Take a lookat the for sale section on here. I think a member still has a 2012 tdv8 for sale and he has spent a lot on it.
The right one will come up. Check Auotrader too. I wouldn't worry about buying from a dealer as the warranty will be short given the age. Extending it will be costly. Look at condition and recent history of maintenance and preventative work. There are loved ones out there.

3.6 with digital dash. It’s what I’d go for in hindsight. No DPF. Blank the EGRs. Remap and it’ll be a perfect motor. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

What's the price? I'd still steer clear of the 3.6 due to it's weak turbo's and gearbox. In hindsight I don't regret spending the extra on a 4.4. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
