Not sure of the best way to describe this but it's happened a few times now that whilst I am towing a heavy catering unit and the car is under load up an incline I get what I can only describe as a violent jolt/judder/bang that's quite unnerving sounds like it's coming from underneath but no lights on the dash or anything obvious,I'm not at all mechanically minded but wonder if it's transmission related ?

This appears to be a common problem with these cars as there are a few posts on it.Sounds like the rear prop shaft centre bearing is worn or the Torque convertor.
Lots of posts on here stating that Dr Tranny shudder additive will solve the problem if its oil related but I have the same problem on my 2009 RR. Vogue and will try replacing the bearing and adding the additive
The centre bearing is about 21 quid from LR spares in Speke and Dr Tranny is about 12 quid a tube
I'll report back once these fixes are done

Ahh that's very interesting to hear,I do have an extended LR warranty on the vehicle so will see what they say

Centre bearing on rear prop is not a straightforward swap on later L322 as it was earlier ones.
Common wisdom is to change the entire prop on later ones (I've done a fair amount of research on this)

As I said I'd follow up
I have just had the rear prop shaft centre bearing changed out on my 2009 RR vogue plus two tubes of Dr Tranny shudder fix for good measure and it's all good now, and drives like a new car.
The Mechanic said the centre bearing was shot and that was the cause of it as I expected after reading the forum as I said it seems to be a common problem.
I have had the transmission filter, sump pan and transmission oil changed as part of the sale in early April.
I'd suggest you get your mechanic to look at the bearing to check for condition and play as a starting point and if you haven't had the gearbox serviced then I'd get that done too (around 500 quid)
I'd also recommend Dr Tranny treatment as well.

Its not a specialist job to be honest and any good and competent mechanic and garage can sort it for but if the car is under warranty then the dealer is the way to go.
Good luck and I'm sure it will be the propshaft centre bearing that's at fault like mine, if not it could be the Torque convertor but I would highly recommend that you have a gearbox oil service as mine hadn't been done from new in 2009 and the oil and filter were in bad condition.
If its not the centre bearing and the gearbox oil and filter is in good condition then I would put in two tubes of Dr Tranny shudder fix as a lot of people swear by that in the blogs I have read

Finally the stealers have got round to looking at my motor and as StevieF2 said its the propshaft centre bearing that's worn

Hoping now that it's covered by my Extended LR Warranty

If not, fit a GKN (OEM) one from Advanced Factors. I've just had this done.

Phew!!
Just been confirmed that a new propshaft is covered under my LR warranty

I also mentioned that it seems to hang onto gears more than it used to and that a gearbox oil change would sort this but a cost of over 1K but as a goodwill gesture ( after shocking lack of service down to Vertu Motors) they can do it for £850 but that still seems a crazy amount of money
