The debate rages on, lol, there are many threads on here, and there is really no right answer, it’s a personal choice at the end of the day. For me, I wanted my FFRR to be as new as possible within budget, good looks, comfy, quiet, uncomplicated and reliable as possible, with lowest possible running costs, and lowest possible depreciation, performance not really important, because it’s no sports car, but that’s just me, and everyone’s criteria is different, we have to respect that.

And yes, there are issues with all models, but nevertheless brothers, we are all here because we love them.

But we STILL love them, because when they work, there is no better all-round car!  “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I am considering the V6 next time my current L322 4.4 is still too good to let go though. even with the Tax and fuel we love it so much as a family cruiser + i have invested a lot in it keeping it on the road, some preventative and some a necessity.

It is also the best Tow car i have had even my TD6 was great if a little under powered.

I would agree the L405 is a better car, But I sure miss my L322. it just put a smile on my face when I looked out of the window and saw the brick shape elegant lines

I’ve just traded mine in, not for a LR, but within the Sytner group so they got the value from a couple of their LR dealers. Both said they wouldn’t retail it (Dec 2018 / 50k miles), so it will be going to Sytner Select.

Got slightly less than I thought I might, but the price to change was OK and it’s c£15k more than I expected it to be worth after 3 years, so not all bad.

It’s been faultless the whole time, covering just under 38k miles.

I might regret moving away from the FF, but I didn’t want another SUV and the L460 doesn’t really appeal in the same way the L405 did. That’s before you start thinking about the potential build quality/reliability issues and having to pay £130k for a used one. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Looking at a 4.4 at the minute but I’m struggling to find many insurers who will quote (only 38 on a CTM search today), possibly because it’ll be used for business mileage for my employer.

The lowest of those that did quote wanted around 7% of the value of the car as an annual premium!

I know that repair and replacement costs are pushing costs skyward, but is the FF in general challenging to insure or is the 4.4 and business use that’s killing it?

I had mine insured for business use and the renewal (due 17th June, so current price) was £960, nearly double last years £520 but less than expected. The best quote on the comparison sites was £1460. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I'm still looking for an April 2017 or later SDV8, have looked at about ten now, really want cream/beige/white interior, and ideally blue exterior paint, being near London there are lots of low mileage ones around but still ridiculous sums of money for a 7 year old car that has mostly been doing very short journeys (which causes its own issues with DPF etc ) , can't be good for a big V8 diesel car.

now that Diesel prices are cheaper than petrol, approx 143p a litre near me, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons etc, the fuel cost has become irrelevant

my 2011 TDV8 is still doing a great job, best tow car I have ever had and makes me smile every time I jump into it, I still love the L322 design and driving experience, but time to move on, especially when I was offered £10 grand for my old car the other day !

Diesel has never been cheaper than petrol here in the Uk and where I live its still 5p more, it should be cheaper though.
