A few days ago I noticed my drivers side front LED sidelamps were flickering a bit. Now they are not working at all. Headlamps (dipped/beam) are OK and all the other sidelights are fine.

I think you will find they are non serviceable LED's you have to change the whole light unit... |

unusual for these led lights to fail...i would double check the connectors and the wiring around the light unit.. ... - .- -.

Was told today that sidelights are part of the MoT, so this is now becoming a priority. Can't believe I'm the only person to have suffered an LED failure in the last decade. It's not just one of the LED's, it's all of them in the headlamp unit. Also find it odd that, with all the electronic gizmo's in the late L322's, there's nothing on the display to say there's a bulb failure. |

I take it you have tried the usual fuses... there can be more than one in a system... Pete

The plot thickens.....
It's not the headlamp unit at fault! ![]() The 'faulty' unit was plugged into the passenger side and the sidelights worked perfectly. The good unit was plugged into the drivers side and the sidelights didn't work. @Haylands - the fuses for the sidelights are indeed 'sided' (separate fuses for Left/Right), but they each cover front and rear sidelights at the same time. If a sidelight fuse goes, you loose that whole side of the car - front and rear sidelamps. It looks like I have an issue with the wiring between the fusebox and the lamp unit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Posting an update here in case anyone in future suffers the same issue.
What this suggests is that the wire is intact, but whatever is feeding it isn't giving it a big enough portion! I wonder if there's some kind of ECU controlling the headlamps (aside from the LED controllers on the base of each lamp unit)? If there is, I couldn't find anything about one here (wiki), or on-line generally. Anyway, after several hours of searching, I'd had enough. I've more respect for auto-electricians now though! ![]() So, knowing that the headlamp unit itself wasn't faulty, I spliced into the other (n/s/f) lamp connector, took the sidelamp feed from there and routed a cable along the inside of the front bumper and into the o/s/f connector. Problem solved enough for an MoT, but I'm still troubled by the fact that it's a bit of a bodge rather than a successful resolution. ![]() ![]() |

Not a bodge, just a slight modification... |

As I said a few posts back, I made a 'slight modification'........ That's a technical term for inadvertently breaking off the lower mounting points! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I assume when you refitted them, the top accessible mounting points hold them securely and there is no movement/flexing when you are driving down the road. -----------------------
