Going to order 5 new tyres this week

As per title..........

Just because they look cool, I was going for some AT tyres from either General, Wildpeak or Cooper.

But can you convince me otherwise and sticking with Pirelli?

If so, which model?

Usage: Travelling mainly on roads as my daily driver. Overland trek into the Peaks / Lakes / Cairngorms this summer. Occasional track / grass / campsite terrain. Nothing even remotely serious or even semi serious.....

Can either stick with 255/50/20 as fitted (Pirelli Zeros) or was thinking 275/45/20 in any of the above AT......

Your more experienced views very welcome....

You won't need an A/T tyre to do what you plan, the only issue is muddy side slopes where you may slip sideways on road tyres but it doesn't sound like you will be doing anything like that...

A/T tyres are noisier than road tyres, they also reduce MPG, and are worse at road holding and braking on wet or dry roads...

IMHO not really a tyre of choice unless you really need the extra off road ability... Thumbs Up

I'm sure you will get lots more views... Pete

I completely agree with Pete, unless you really need the extra off road performance, there are more down sides with AT's as a road tyre.

Also worth looking at 255/55/20 tyres if you're replacing all 5. A lot of people have made the switch - its a standard tyre on the L405 and seems a good bit cheaper than the 50's

I’m running General Grabber AT3s 255/55/20 and no more road noise than Pirelli Scorpions.

Will 55's effect the rolling speed in any way mate?

You may not need all terrain tyres but all season tyres are a very worthwhile choice for UK roads. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

If you are using your RR off road in muddy, greasy fields particularly in the winter then get the AT’s, if not don’t bother. A RR is extremely capable on standard tyres, however tread clogged with mud will stop even a tractor.

I’ve got two sets of tyres - Cooper AT’s in 285/50/20 for the winter shooting season - November to
January inclusive - the rest of the year standard tyres 275/40/22’s are fine - even during the wetter September /October months off road. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

My tuppence… I wanted to go a little larger in tyres last year and wanted a more rugged A/T look.
Ended up opting for these Yokohama Geolanders: https://www.camskill.co.uk/m63b5388s13299p...se%3A_72dB
Can only say I’m very happy with the look and the drive with them Thumbs Up Did have a slight rub on full lock in reverse but a bit of minor liner fettling sorted that. Cheers, Steven.

I think I now agree with you mate, so thank you for all your continuing advice ( you have advised me on other L322 bits and pieces so thanks).

I happened across Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico PNCS. They have an 'A' noise rating (69db) and a 'B' rating for wet weather. Can't find a decent review online anywhere?

Anyone running the above tyres? 4.4 TDV8 Sumatra Black + Ivory Leather
