SD 4.4V8 Service interval

What is the service interval on these? I've seen a couple for sale now that have only had 2 services in 50k miles (one had a service at 17k and at 47k), that doesn't sound right, is it?

Should have looked there, thanks!

In the L405 service schedule it says e.g. 32,000 miles / 24 months - is this an either or, being a fixed or mileage based variable service schedule or whichever comes first?

There’s no fixed interval in practice.

It’s normally about 16k after the service counter has been reset but it all depends on driving style and conditions and many owners struggle to get 16k intervals.

I’d be cautious and ask much more about the one you’re looking at. 2016 SDV8 AB

Very useful, thanks. That means a 50,000 mile car should have had about 3 services or so I think.

It's 12 months or 16k according to the service schedule. Usually, it's whichever comes first but I don't believe this is explicitly stated. Kev

thread bump

I picked up my 2018 SDV8 on the middle of January (so four months ago) and covered 5k miles. There haven't been many short duration journeys, some obviously but most journeys are at least 30 minutes and 20+ miles, a good chunk being 1hr plus journeys.

When I picked up the car it had just been serviced and the next service advised was 13k, the remote app now has just warned of an impending service needed. Last week it was still saying I was 2500 miles off a service needed.

With my driving patterns, I was expecting 9-12 months between intervals, not 5-6. Is this normal? First time FFRR owner

I get about 6/7 months in the last couple of years (Thanks COVID). I have an annual full service at Land Rover and do a 6 month oil and filter due to the oil dilution, it's not a huge cost in the grand scheme of FFRR ownership. I'm a bit grumbly as my next service was part of the purchase deal so done want to waste it with a basic oil change/inspection and keeping the extended warranty so I guess that prohibits me doing other than what the book says.

if it was doing short journeys I could understand but I don't really First time FFRR owner
