I've found an SSM (SSM 74642, not sure how I can attach a pdf here?)

It specifically talks about 18-21MY L405 sensitivity to wheel balance and mentions the following:

'Customers report a vibration felt through the base of the drivers seat and are visually able to see the upper section of the passenger seat shaking'

Interesting.

Picked up a bargain Ctek MXS 5.0 off Facebook marketplace today so I've stuck my new battery/batteries on charge (connected to underbonnet posts so only charging main battery?)

The charger I had was a halfords normal one so picking up a ctek seems like a sensible idea.

Will see what the battery voltage is when fully charged and if it helps with first start of the day steering.

Complete Apples to Oranges comparison but...

The steering in it is lighter than my 405 and the ride is more 'cushioned and less 'fidgety'

It definately sounds like something is not right. My L405 is a much more comfortable ride than my old L320. Kev

I also had a AB sport and the ride was firmer than my car now. overfinch modified

I certainly am. Yes, I feel potholes and drain covers in the road, but on the motorway and a roads it's a magic carpet ride. Kev

Okay and were you both on 275 40 20 with your L320s?

So what could be causing mine to be okay once in a Blue moon (like when haylands drove it and that random day I posted about )

Then shocking like it was Thursday?

Yes, I had 275/40/20 and then had 255/55/20 as I put some L494 wheels on.

If I were you, I'd disconnect the electrical connectors on the top of the struts and take it for a ride. That'll take the CVD out of the question. If that solves it for you, you can then code them out. Kev

Thanks for confirming.

If I unplug the connectors the shocks won't be energized at all meaning they will be in full hard mode.

I'd have an even harder ride than I have now?

I'm not sure which way around they work. But if it were me, I'd give it a whirl. Kev

I think they default to a soft mode, and it’s energised to stiffen the damping rate. On the Evoque, if the energise value ran between 0 and 1, iiirc the default energise value was about 0.25, and when in dynamic mode it sat at 0.5 .. so by default dynamic had a stiffer damping all the time. V8 or else ...
