I also do an oil change every 10 000km and keep the car very well serviced. The engine is a smooth as can be, no vibration really when the hood is up.

I had this on my L405 but it was consistent turning both directions. Double flushed and calibrated the transfer case three times (ie. six times fluid change in total!) and after each double flush it was fine for a couple of weeks then the problem would return. I spoke to two independent specialists who recommended replacing the transfer case (£££). In the end, I took a punt and put a sachet of Dr. Tranny Instant Shudder Fix in - no more judder and has been absoluely fine for at least 5k miles since |

Transfer box. It has a wet multiplate clutch so the effect is the same. Kev

I have the ETM diff in the back, I believe this also has a multi-plate clutch assembly (locking diff) - I have filled this with the Castrol SAF CARBON MOD PLUS.

I did a single oil change and clutch recalibration the other day and still getting some slight intermittent judder. I’ll have to do another drain and refill and see if it improves. I’m assuming the transfer case is similar to the locking rear diff and has a clutch pack in it. So would it actually be advisable to use friction modifiers as a solution?

I was going to, but my transfer case already had the latest software on it so GAP refunded my money.

I had the same issue with mine over a year ago - I did a single oil change and recalibrated the clutch and had to drive it for a couple days before I could do the second change. I was disappointed that the single change didn't improve the problem as I couldn't see how 2 changes would fix it if 1 didn't. I was wrong, did the second change and the problem was sorted. I would do the second change before trying anything else. |

The first change has made an improvement so I’ll order some more oil today and do a second change. Thanks for the heads up. |

You put the Lubegaurd in the rear diff just added 2oz or did a fluid change and 2oz? |
