United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Sumatra Black
Sold the supercharged, now got a 4.4 TDV8

I owned a 5.0 Supercharged for the last 6 months or so but due to a change of circumstances it had to go unfortunately. I couldn't decide what to replace it with having looked at X5s (which were particularly underwhelming after a FFRR) and Discos. In the end, the only thing you can replace a FFRR with is another one. So that's what I did. It's a 2012 Vogue TDV8, and I made sure I got one without adaptive cruise which I found slightly dim-witted nor the cooling seats which felt ever so slightly like I'd wet myself.
It was actually a pleasant surprise as I was expecting it to feel underpowered with dropping 200bhp but it still has a decent turn of pace and a sedate run down to Stansted returned an almost unbelievable 45mpg which goes without saying was completely unheard of in the supercharged.

Well I did say it was sedate. Cruise on at 56mph to keep up with the trucks and it was the most mind numbing drive ever. I don't think I'll be repeating it again in a hurry.

Northern Ireland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Everyone is surprised when I tell them I'm getting 36mpg on the motorway. For the size and weight they are a superb choice over the alternatives. I'd agree the X5 is not a suitable replacement for a FFRR. I love my BMWs but the X3 and X5 are not designed igned for off road. I had an X3 35d with the 3.0 straight 6 twin turbo and 286bhp. A superb tow car with lots of torque but not in the same league as my Westminster. X5s have a bad reputation for reliability too but I suspect like everything, they become affordable at a certain age and people buy them and try to maintain them on a shoestring. You can't do it.
