I have an additional remote in that space.. It came with the car and I've never used the rear entertainment ( kids all grown up) so can't shed any more light on it.

...don’t know then.... I think most of that functionality is in the other remote..... everything seems to work in mine without it.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Not really, it’s just a remote for the DVD player, but I imagine it’s more convenient to use that than mess with the touchscreen in the front whilst a film is playing.

The smaller remote is for the older system from 2009 and before, it doesn't work with the new system however the remote does happen to fit perfectly in the slot.
