Right abit of a weird one, so got this droning noise going but basically driving at 30 you can hear a drone noise speed up then goes. Get to 50mph comes back abit louder speed up or throttle off then goes. Get to 70-75 and it sound like loud drone or like a jet starting but throttle off or speed up goes quiet and doesn’t make the noise when slowing down either only accelerating. I’m thinking wheel bearing but I’ve too and bottomed,side to side the wheel and no movement,tried rotating like spinning then no noise. Any help?? Thanks

I think that is one of the diffs? I would check the colour of the oil

Worn, poor quality or out of round tyre can cause noises like this as well. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

can also be the rubber window/windscreen joins which, when a gap appears, start to hum. Look for separation of the rubber to the glass.

So changed the diff oils about 9 months ago as they was bad. So I know they’re ok. All new tyres about a year ago with perilli scorpions zero.
Also all the windows seals no major gaps a lil bit but been like since I’ve and the noise has only really started about a few months back. Only to mention I did have a rear propshaft since then the noise has kept up

I suffered from an intermittent droning noise on my L322.

Eventually traced to the passenger seat, when my wife was not sitting on it the droning stopped.

I had a similar drone sound on my L405 and was diagnosed by MD as a worn rear wheel bearing. Apparently having 22 inch wheels doesn’t help but They replaced under warranty. Took them 1 day to fix.

Hmmm that’s interesting I wonder if it could be the bearing? I’ve had the back and spun the wheels didn’t hear no grinding or noise but it could be one of those noise I’m gonna be chasing it.

When you can hear the whining noise, does lifting off the throttle make any difference?

What you say you can hear to me sounds like the same noise my rear diff made before it was changed.

Wheel bearing noise is normally easy to diagnose. The drone is pronounced when the car is banking (going round a curved road) and the car’s weight shifts onto one side. You need to drive both ways (left and right curves) to see which bearing is the problem.

So you can hear a bit of whirring/grinding going right around the roundabout so think the grinding noise.
Has dhallworth is saying is exactly that you get to that speed say at 50 and lifting off throttle it does stop/ go anway until you get to 50 or 70 again the. Does it again. It that what happened to you?

There is a noise you can get coming through the HVAC system. It is intermittent and there is a kit to fix this. I have this issue, but I would describe it as howling—but droning would work to describe.
