I think that is one of the diffs? I would check the colour of the oil |

Worn, poor quality or out of round tyre can cause noises like this as well. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

can also be the rubber window/windscreen joins which, when a gap appears, start to hum. Look for separation of the rubber to the glass. |

So changed the diff oils about 9 months ago as they was bad. So I know they’re ok. All new tyres about a year ago with perilli scorpions zero.

I had a similar drone sound on my L405 and was diagnosed by MD as a worn rear wheel bearing. Apparently having 22 inch wheels doesn’t help but They replaced under warranty. Took them 1 day to fix. |

Hmmm that’s interesting I wonder if it could be the bearing? I’ve had the back and spun the wheels didn’t hear no grinding or noise but it could be one of those noise I’m gonna be chasing it. |

When you can hear the whining noise, does lifting off the throttle make any difference?

Wheel bearing noise is normally easy to diagnose. The drone is pronounced when the car is banking (going round a curved road) and the car’s weight shifts onto one side. You need to drive both ways (left and right curves) to see which bearing is the problem. |

So you can hear a bit of whirring/grinding going right around the roundabout so think the grinding noise.

There is a noise you can get coming through the HVAC system. It is intermittent and there is a kit to fix this. I have this issue, but I would describe it as howling—but droning would work to describe.
