I have a similar issue on my new to me 2011 5.0 n/a Its annoying but I also can't seem to make it happen it has a mind of its own and it starts and stops suddenly very intermittent. Almost as if its a fan or blower cutting in and out. But with enough vibration you can feel and hear it.

Mine makes the "blowing across the top of a bottle noise" when air recirc is on.
I had assumed perhaps a blend door not closing properly.

Most noticeable at 50mph and above.

Finally got an update on this. I've fixed the noise!

I'm investigating an oil leak so thought I'd have a proper look to see if I could find anything amiss whilst I was down there.

Despite my earlier post saying the noise had gone I can confirm it didn't go. I noticed the other day when starting on a slope with the window down that the sound was accompanied by a metallic rattle / resonance so this may well be the cause on mine as well. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Sort that oil leak. I’ll bet it’s the oil cooler in the V up top. Replace the cooler, gaskets and the 2 O rings. Loads of detail on here about it in Wiki. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Yes I suspect it is the oil cooler. I've ordered the gaskets and the viton o rings and will get it done when they arrive. The reason for getting the underside stripped down was to check that it wasn't the turbo return pipes, and they look ok, so oil cooler seems likely.

I suspect it had this fault when I bought the car last May. I pointed out a slight oil leak when it went back for new rear shocks under warranty from the dealer, the dealer said it wasn't the oil cooler, just excess drips from the oil change. There was no evidence of oil in coolant or coolant in oil, so not really much I could do. There is still no evidence of either. It's taken until now for any oil to reappear. So I pretty much knew this was coming. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

Just been under mine and the gearbox shield does rattle like a biscuit tin lid. I took it off but couldn't see anything wrong or where it was touching so put it back again and it seems to be silent now. Been driving around this afternoon with the window down and the familiar moan at very low revs is totally gone  2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hell, did you get anywhere with the fuel pump after the fuel filter change comment? This is exactly what mine is doing after a fuel filter change. I’m assuming there is no air in the system as it starts and drives without mishap.

Had this appear on my 2011 as well. Last thing I had done was a gearbox oil and filter change so suspected I had introduced it. I have checked the oil level several times, as in my head the sound sounded like a suction sound to me, but went away at high revs too. Maybe oil pressure related?
Checked all the heat shields too, nothing out of place or loose.
Today I have found the high pressure fuel rail cross over pipe is vibrating. So I am suspecting that there is air in the system. But I have not touched anything in the fuel system.
Does anyone know if there is a bleeding procedure for the fuel system?
I found a de-pressurise procedure, pulling out the fuel pump fuse and letting the engine idle until it stalls. I can't find a fuel pump fuse in my 2011.  2011 L322 5.0L HSE & 2018 Discovery Sport 2.0L
